Make it to keep. Make it to sell. Or both.

Most travel projects on Blurb start as a personal keepsake. Some become something more: a published travel guide, a memoir on Amazon, a magazine your audience buys. Whichever direction you're going, the book starts the same way.

Make a travel book to sell

Same craft, same print quality, built for a different reason.

Travel Book FAQs

How much does a travel photo book cost?
Blurb photo book pricing starts at $12.00 for softcover, $32.00 for ImageWrap hardcover and linen hardcover with dust jacket photo books, and $60.00 for layflat. Paperback trade books start at $3.99. Hardcover trade books start at $13.99. Magazines start at $7.00. Notebooks and journals start at $14.67. The final price depends on format, page count, and paper choice. Use our pricing calculator to work out the cost of your project. Volume discounts start at 10+ copies.
What's the difference between layflat and standard photo book binding?
A layflat photo book uses special binding that lets pages lie completely flat when opened, so panoramic spreads run edge to edge without a center gutter. It's ideal for landscapes, cityscapes, and mountain ranges. Standard softcover and hardcover books have a traditional spine, cost less, and are ideal for portrait-oriented images and journals. Both are archival and bookstore-grade quality.
Can I order just one copy, or is there a minimum?
No minimum. You can print a single copy for yourself, or as many as you need. Volume discounts start at 10+ copies with tiered savings — up to 25% off photo books and paperbacks, and up to 20% off magazines.
How do I self-publish a travel guide or memoir and sell it on Amazon?
Design and print your travel guide or memoir through Blurb, then sell it on the Blurb Bookstore with no listing fees or distribute through Amazon and 40,000+ retailers via Ingram. Books print on demand, no upfront inventory, and you keep the rights with monthly payouts of 100% of your profits on Blurb Bookstore sales. Amazon and Ingram charge additional distribution fees.
Do I keep the rights to my self-published travel book?
Yes. You own the copyright, the ISBN, and the content. Blurb is the publisher of record for distribution purposes, but you retain all rights and can update or unpublish your book at any time.
What's the difference between selling on the Blurb Bookstore vs. Amazon vs. Ingram?
The Blurb Bookstore is best if you have a built-in audience or strong social presence. You keep 100% of your profits and can link your audience directly from your site or social media. Every format is eligible including photo books, paperback and hardcover books, magazines, and notebooks and journals. Amazon is best for reaching readers everywhere; Blurb handles printing and fulfillment, and Amazon charges a distribution fee of $1.35 per book plus 15% of your list price. Only photo books (excluding layflat) can be sold on Amazon. Ingram is best for getting paperback and hardcover books into 40,000+ bookstores and retailers worldwide; Ingram charges distribution fees and Blurb handles fulfillment.
How long does it take to receive a Blurb travel book?
Standard delivery is 5–7 business days after your order is placed, including print production. Blurb ships to 180+ countries, with expedited options available at checkout. Bulk orders of 100+ typically ship in 7–10 business days.
Can Blurb handle bulk or automated book printing for my business?
Yes. Blurb offers two paths for business-scale printing: Large Order Services for orders of 100+ books with dedicated account management and volume pricing, and a print-on-demand API that integrates with any platform, app, website, or enterprise system for automated ordering and fulfillment. Books can ship to one address or drop-ship to end customers without Blurb branding. Powered by RPI Print's global network, the print engine behind Blurb.
